Tim Pylko, M.D

Collaborative Consulting Psychiatrist

Dr. Tim Pylko is a distinguished psychiatrist recognized for his compassionate, integrative approach to mental health and recovery. Originally from Canada, Dr. Pylko earned his undergraduate degree with Honors in Neuroscience from McGill University before completing his medical degree at the University of Toronto. He then relocated to Los Angeles, where he completed his residency in psychiatry through the UCLA San Fernando Program.

Throughout his training, Dr. Pylko developed a special interest in the treatment of Bipolar Disorder and the holistic understanding of mental health through a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual framework. His recovery-oriented philosophy emphasizes restoring meaning, purpose, and community connection for individuals living with serious mental illness.

Dr. Pylko has served as a consultant on award-winning documentaries including Of Two Minds (on living with bipolar disorder) and The “S” Word (on suicide awareness and prevention). He was an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA from 1986 to 2017 and has been an Adjunct Clinical Professor at USC since 2015.

He is the Senior Partner at San Marino Psychiatric Associates and the Director of Psychiatry at PCH Treatment Centers, as well as Executive Director of PCH Pasadena, which he co-founded in 2016 to provide a more intimate, structured, and supportive setting for individuals requiring higher staff-to-client care. He is also on staff at Aurora Las Encinas Hospital.

Dr. Pylko’s dedication to recovery has earned him numerous honors, including “Recovery Practitioner of the Year” from NAMI California (2009), “Exemplary Psychiatrist” from NAMI National (2014), and recognition for “Distinguished Service in Recovery” from The Promises Foundation (2015). He currently serves as a Council Member of the Southern California Psychiatric Society, representing the San Gabriel Valley and East Los Angeles, and chairs the AI Task Force Subcommittee examining the impact of artificial intelligence on mental health.
